Baton Rouge Apartments

Apartments I stayed in while at LSU

Finding a place to stay at in Baton Rouge while in college is really tough. The city is scattered out all over the place and if you're new then you're lost. You have no idea where to go! I basically found my way around by staying in about 5 places fairly close to LSU. I noticed the further I got away from campus, the happier I was. Places close to campus seemed to be of lower quality, costing more money and seemed more likely to have break-ins or trouble.

Apartments not to stay in:

The area that I would advise everyone to stay away from is that of Burbank Drive which means Sterling University Cresent, University Commons and every apartment building over 5 years old in that general Burbank area. I say the 5 years because they built new construction and I don't know much about it however if its anything like when I was living in Sterling then its cheap construction, small and very costly. A good thing about it is that you're physically close to school but with traffic on that street in the morning you're always fighting bad traffic to get there.(too damned far to walk in a reasonable amount of time) I lived here for a year and hated it. I lived a little further down Burbank in the older apartments closer to LSU which were horrible due to old poorly kept buildings, not near enough parking and bad land lords.

Good Apartments I lived in:

I lived in Bienville Tower apartments which was located near College Drive and Corporate for near two years and loved it. The place was affordable, I felt safe there and the staff took care of the residents. If you're an LSU student it was fairly easy to cut through to Acadian and get to campus. Plus near the corperate drive area there are tons of things to do. I see now alot of new stuff has sprung up there.

I also lived in Edgewood apartments on Stumberg(which has an identical apartment complex called Oakley on Perkins rd near Bluebonnet). Edgewood is pretty far from LSU but Oakley is reasonably close. Both are very nice gated communities especially for their cost.

Well thats what I know about apartments for rent in Baton Rouge. Not much I know but this little scrap of information could help several people looking for a place to stay.
