Baton Rouge in December

Christmas Lights, Parades and Bon Fires

December is in my opinion one of the best months all year round in Baton Rouge. You're finally not sweating terribly everytime you step outside so you can enjoy more of what there is to do outdoors. For example I love to go exercise at the LSU lakes in the evenings during December with the temperate weather. But of course its all about Christmas after Thanksgiving and there is much to do for the whole family in December.

Baton Rouge Festival Of Lights

The festival of lights is a yearly celebration of the Christmas spirit that is put on by the city of Baton Rouge. There are Christmas lights, shows, crafts, operas and tons more all put on in series to celebrate the season. They do keep a webpage with information here: Baton Rouge Festival of Lights.

Lutcher's Festival of Bon Fires

Is a yearly several day series of bon fires celebrating the wonderful weather. There are bands performing, great cajun food, partying and of course giant bon fires. This is a do not miss celebration for the season. They too have a website which is making writing for this month easy: Festival of Bon Fires

Baton Rouge Christmas Parade

Christmas wouldn't be complete without parades. There is the always popular Downtown Baton Rouge Christmas parade on December 9th which is pretty large and fun for the whole family. If you want to check out another parade there is the Gonzales Christmas Parade on December 10th which isn't as large and in my opinion is more fun!

New Restaurant In Baton Rouge

There is a new Fernando's mexican restaurant in Baton Rouge which is very nice with a great bar area. They're located on Coursey across the street from The Chimes East near Airline Highway. Worth a try plus they have a great bucket beer special.
