Fun For June in BR

Its summer time in Baton Rouge which doesn't necessarily mean its pleasent out. Its hot as hell here until November/December so you've got to do what you can do to have fun relative to the temperature. People around here usually like to be on the water or near the water so if you own a boat people love to hang out on the False River, Tickfaw River, Amite River and Diversion Canal all in nearby parishes.

I've been going out to bars and restaurants in the downtown Baton Rouge area these last couple of weeks. I've been hitting the English and Irish pubs to watch World Cup Soccer and Team USA. People have been particularly turning out to watch the soccer matches at Fox and The Hound English Pub. This place is great if you want to watch sports on a big screen projector and drink a large variety of beers. They've also got a pretty good food menu to choose from, nice pool tables, darts and a shuffle board game. At least 50 people turned out in the middle of the day on Saturday to watch the soccer game between USA and Italy.

I've also been going out to the new bars I haven't been to in downtown Baton Rouge. Happy's Irish pub is a great new place styled after traditional Irish pubs. A long bar, some booths and over a dozen beers on tap. No food menu. A good crowd of people turn out to sit and have drinks on weekends. It was fun!

I also checked out The Wine Loft in downtown. A great venue to go hang out and have drinks. They've got alot of semi private little areas for people to sit with their friends and have drinks. They also have an upstairs "loft" that you make reservations to enjoy privately. This is probably a great place to go for business related drinks and I quite enjoyed the atmosphere. Beautiful decour, good lighting and some awesome paintings made for a sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere. Located at the corner of third and laurel street.
