What a horrible month. 2 huge hurricanes, LSU defeated by UT. I have to give it to the Vols they didn't lay down for LSU. Its just been a rough one to live in Louisiana. I'm one of the fortunate ones.

Since I've been posting here more I'm going to start with a more blog like effect of using permalinks. Permalinks are a permanent links. Its a snob term derived by Internet users to sound more techie...

A sad day for US Citizens. The blow of the Hurricane, the memories of 9/11 and all the politicians and press stirring us up. We're all feeling it a bit today.

Louisiana is a mad house. The population of New Orleans is being put up where they can and government is still trying to solidify a solution for the problems at hand. Everyone was really hit blind with how bad this thing was on Monday evening. I remember during the hurricane reporters were reporting that New Orleans wasn't being hit "that bad" and when the dust settled everyone saw what a disaster had really occured. Frustration has now been mounting throughout the population. Apparently all the arm chair FEMA coordinators, governors and presidents out there think that not enough is being done. I for one would like to thank our government for what they've done and how they've handled themselves. Nobody should critize their efforts. Especially anyone who has no experience with handling a command that determines what happens to thousands of people in a critical situation.

One of those things that older people are always talking about just occurred in hurricane Katrina. Not much else has been going on except reading news on this and watching Baton Rouge bustle about at four times its normal pace. This city is damaged and trying to take on refugees from New Orleans and I must say its a mad house. Military helicopters heading South constantly, traffic, gasoline selling out, food selling out and more. Its really like a warzone out here. I'm proud and embarrassed of my fellow residents though. People working so hard to take care of each other and at the same time people running around like animals in the streets of New Orleans and Mississippi. Looting, shooting and acting like savage dogs in general. I suppose its true that the worst of times do bring out the best and worst of people. I feel rather helpless as it relates to the status of the city of New Orleans because I wish I could physically help out in the situation. It makes me wish I'd become a part time deputy, soldier or fireman so that I could be involved. I'm not and must attend to my own job which hasn't been affected much by this event so I just do what I can do. Donate to the Red Cross and hope for the best.

Been working on the old Mustang again. Got the Welder and I've been patching here, replacing rust with good metal there, etc trying to get her back into one solid piece. I now have the front end out and ready to go back underneath the car as soon as we get a good primer on there its a go. First time in about 8 years the old car will have a front end again. Looking forward to that and then I'll go ahead and pony up the cash to have the engine refurbished and put it back in there. Should be alot of fun.

My heart goes out to the families and officers affected by the shooting that took place in Baton Rouge yesterday. They do a great service out there taking retards like the person involved in this off our streets.

I've been working my butt off on writing a bunch of specialty software at work. PHP, PERL, Apache Server, Javascript, C, MySQL and a few other this n thats have left me about brain fried. I'm amazed at how well the Internet works these days and just how much you can accomplish with a few tools and a little experience. This comes primarily because I can remember when all these systems weren't so refined and it was much more difficult to provide something that was really really useful. Before the year 2010 our entire lives will be completely dependant on computers. I read Slashdot.org every day and I'm regularly wow'd at some other new project someone else is working on. Its definitely an exciting time to be alive.

Wow two times in the same month. Are you impressed? I certainly am. I've set up a php calendar for myself as a reference to how I play poker and what I do in Baton Rouge. So I'm posting the results of each time I go play cards so that I can make sure I keep accurate notes on the subject. This will also suppliment my Baton Rouge and Louisiana information to give people an idea whats going on. Its 100% accurate for my poker play in the month of July so far.

What the hell happened to June? Usually at least once a month I find a little time to scratch down here whats been going on but apparently June was too damn busy. I was out of town for a week for a Search Engine conference in New Orleans. I've also been playing alot of poker in the evenings doing quite well. I suppose between all that and working out I've been busy. I have worked here and there on the back sections of this website though.
