LSU Basketball - 2006 NCAA Tournament

Well its sad to say but a great year of regular season LSU basketball is over. Now the Tigers move on to the NCAA tournament and all the speculation is how far will our team go? Naturally everyone in the top 20 has devised some sort of argument on how far their team will go. I'm not an exception on cheering for the LSU mens & womens basketball teams.

LSU in Sweet 16

In my March Madness bracket I've got LSU making it to play Duke in the sweet 16. Alot of people in the news and on messageboards have speculated that playing LSU is a nightmare scenario for the Blue Devils but I think thats just hype for whats going to be the first challenging game for Duke. I see LSU playing competitively and even probably winning at the half but running out of gas late.

Why? LSU can beat Duke!

I'm not saying LSU can't beat Duke but its tournament time and they're not very deep and hurt. Everyone has focused on the Tyrus Thomas injury and forgotten that D. Mitchell is still feeling his ankle as well! LSU has to get past Iona and then either Syracuse or A&M neither of which are just going to lay down for the Tigers. Our guys are going to be tired playing against the best in the country and it'll take a big game from two or more LSU players to take down this beast. I'll be cheering for LSU to bust my bracket but I give them only a 25% chance to pull it off.(more than fair)

I haven't forgotten the LSU Womens Basketball team

The LSU women have once again put together a hell of a year with it being Augustus senior year. I see the girls heading to at least the final four and anything less would be a let down for me. I promise you thats fair because to our girls anything less than cutting down the ent at the end of the NCAA tournament is a let down. They're competitors, they're the best.

Who wins the NCAA tournament in 2006?

I've got Duke and Uconn playing for the NCAA title. Who knows!
