UFC 67

Fight Reviews and Predictions

ufc baton rouge Jeez is it time already for UFC 67 coming in just 10 days. It seems like just yesterday we were watching UFC 66. I suppose alot of that has to do with my extremely busy personal life.

Big disappointment without getting to see Matt Serra vs. George St. Pierre. I was looking forward to seeing Serra in versus a real fighter like GSP though I really feared for him getting embarrased. George needs to do an evaluation on his training methods if he's gotten injured twice in a single year. He's in fantastic shape everytime he's in the ring and must be pushing a little too hard.

Travis Lutter Vs. Anderson Silva

Most people I've talked to aren't giving Lutter a shot in hell to beat Silva. Anderson Silva just looks unstoppable after destroying Rich Franklin & Chris Leben. But If you take a look at the fighters on Lutter's resume you can see that he's no joke. He did after all beat Patrick Cote leading into this fight who is a great yet not so well known guy with the average fan walking the streets. I personally give him a fair shot at winning this fight. I believe that if he can force Silva to fight his sort of fight and doesn't try to box the guy he's got a shot. I put Anderson as a 2 to 1 favorite and this fight isn't going the distance. Should be over by round three by Silva/K.O. or Lutter/submission.

Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs. Eddie Sanchez

Finally Mirko has come to the UFC! However it looks like they've decided to drop the Filipovic part of his name? Funny.

What's not funny is that Eddie Sanchez will probably be sitting in the hospital after this fight. Mirko is a knockout artist and Eddie's resume consist of a long list of knockouts against sub-par opponents. Eddie is a jiu jitsu based guy who likes to punch stepping in against one of the absolute best strikers in the world. See the problem? Mirko has got to be a 4 to 1 favorite to win with an upset being a huge shocker.

Quinton Jackson Vs. Marvin Eastman

Rampage gets his welcome to the UFC with a match against a guy who beat him a long time ago, Marvin Eastman. Eastman is one of those fight anyone type of guys with a laundry list of fights against mixed quality opponents. He's lost against most quality opponents and both his shots in the UFC so far. I don't give him much of a shot at beating Rampage but he does have a chance. I'd put Jackson at a 3 to 1 favorite to win this match by decision or late round knockout.

Sam Hoger vs Ryoto "Lyoto" Machida

In all the lead up to this event they've pushed that Mirko and Jackson were coming to the UFC. They never even mentioned this guy, why? Look at his resume and its quite a few big names in Franklin, Penn, White and Bonnar. Sam Hoger is a guy who's lost a couple of tough fights in the UFC. He can win and hopefully he's improved. This should prove to be a good contest but if Machida beats Hoger badly I'd say watch out UFC! I'm not going to put a number on this one.

Patrick Cote vs. Scott Smith

Cote's last performance was disappointing to say the least while Smith showed a ton of heart with his freak knockout! This fight could be a good one or a disappointment. I've got Cote as a 3 to 2 favorite to take this one by submission.

Jorge Rivera Should win by knockout in the first or second.

I don't care much about the 155lb division. There are two fights on this card that just don't do it for me or anyone else. Just too small and only room for one type of fighter.
