USA Soccer Fans

More people watching World Cup Action

fifa world cup baton rouge This year I found myself getting ready for the FIFA World Cup football tournament. This is a sporting event that I and most Americans have cared less about in the past but this year is different. Soccer has finally caught on enough in the United States that I and other people are watching the game. I've never played soccer and have few friends who do play the sport so why all of a sudden am I ready to watch it?

Decline of Pro Baseball and Basketball

I have no interest in watching professional basketball or baseball in the USA anymore. Steroid abuse and scandal make pro baseball unbearable after it had already lost a ton of stock with me during the strike year of 1994 when I was a big fan. Professional basketball players show no pride in themselves letting the USA fall short in the Olympics. In addition the games are pretty boring since its widely known that none of these guys really get up for a game. I have no interest in professional basketball ever since none of the cream of the American professional basketball players went to represent our country. They're too busy working on record deals, dealing with legal problems or going up in the stands to fight the fans. Enough is enough.

Globalization

Every day the world is getting smaller and our countries are seeming closer together. Especially through technology and availability of information people in the USA are becoming more interested in the world stage. Its alot harder to ignore whats going on everywhere else and we're becoming interested.

I personally enjoy all the emotion and effort put into the soccer tournament by the teams. yes the USA isn't the best team but wow do all the teams play. Everyone is out there trying to win and giving their all from the coaches to the fans. The rumble of the arena while those games are going on is unreal. I have to go check this stuff out for myself in 2010.

American Soccer Fans

Doing a little research on the subject USA soccer fans are definitely on the rise with a record showing this year in Germany. Americans are obviously looking other places for sports entertainment than our traditional three and the obvious next place for big time team sports competition is soccer. The fever hasn't caught on yet but I think we'll see a rise and by 2010 we'll have started to join the rest of the world in the love of the game. People in Baton Rouge aren't watching it yet but I think it'll come on especially with the influx of Mexican immigrants.

Well thats it for this rant! Go USA Football team! Win a game for a change this year.(they've never won a game in Europe)
