Classic Mustang Restoration

These are the old logs of previous years progress on the classic 1969 Ford Mustang restoration from the slower years. Back when I had no money, time or dedication to work on this project. Now(2006) progress is going quickly and I have another log of Ford Mustang fun and a Ford Mustang Video Blog. The original Mustang page is now going to be strictly a summary on the original equipment of my Mustang and the basic details to get around my site. I had to make this change to the Mustang page because its so out of order from 3 years spread out of just posting little progressions on the car.

mustang January 2006: I've started to really work hard on my car again lately. I intend to have it moving along swimmingly. I've moved my 1969 Mustang Updates for 2006 or better and I'm also keeping a vlog on the project. 2006 will be fun.

How's it going now?: I know its hard to find the update section of this site so I posted it up here ahead of the description of all my parts. Updates on Ford Mustang project are posted every couple of months or so. Its something I only work on a few hours a month right now because I have to drive 25 miles to do so. I'm keeping with it though and moving into a house in 2006 where I'll be able to have my car on site. So I'm thinking that 2006 is the year I'll actually get to drive the old beastie again. As of December 12, 2005 I have the front end entirely back together and am about to order a front end kit so it'll be mobile and more easily workable. I'm excited!!

1969 Mustang Restoration Video? - I have recently started my Jerry Odom Vlog that is also going to feature some video of my car as I work on it. Today is December 26, 2005 and I'm posting a video I made about a week ago. I've also worked on the car since then and am going to order a front end rebuild kit tomorrow so that in 2-3 weeks I'll have a front end back on my car for the first time in years. I recently have had alot more time to work on my old Mustang and it'll be on the road again soon.

Present Progress and Updates: - I manage to put about a day worth of work into the car every month. Lately(April) its getting to where I have more time mainly because I have more money. Here is a log of my progress no matter how slow it may be.

June 2002:
Resumed restoration of the old car after getting out of school for the summer. Plenty of sandblasting and stripping off old frame pieces. Pictures soon to come.

July 2002:
All of the old frame panels have been removed. Ordering new pieces which will be fitted into the front end by the end of August. Hopefully have the wheels back on in september. Here is what it looks like now:

August 2002:
Getting the frame rail in descent condition now working on putting the radiator support back together

February 2003:
How time flies when you're not having fun. I've finally after many months of school & graduating managed to come back to my car project. 6 months and I haven't touched it so now here we go again. Trying to finish the front clip and just get the car back on 4 wheels.

March 2003:
Frame rail done. Radiator support & fender apron waiting for me to put them on this weekend. I'm going to get a new digital camera to show whats going.

April 2003:
A bit of a stall on finishing the front frame assembly up. The front cross member slides on with about an inch of space that isn't supposed to be there. So I'm ordering the chasis and body books for the Mustang and will hopefully get things going there again. I spent a Saturday doing alot of degreasing, scrubbing and cleaning parts so that we can put the front end back underneath the car when the assembly is done.

September 2003:
Life in general has caught up with me. I have the front end put back together but alot of my time has been caught up elsewhere for personal reasons. Slow and steady wins the race I suppose. :)

October 2003:
The frame is back together. Thank god. It only took me about 6 months hunh? That sort of thing tends to happen when you only work on the thing once a month at most. I'll try to post more pictures soon. UPDATE: New Page featuring pictures of the latest work.

November 2003:
Updates have moved to the second page of my Mustang page.

Modest Prediction: My car will look like its original form when finished but it will be pastel grey. If anyone has a picture of a pastel grey Mach 1 I would appreciate it being sent to me.
